I only log SIM time when flying an actual simulator. If using an FTD or ATD I just log the simulated instrument time and the approaches. I put the make/model of the device if it's an FTD/ATD in the aircraft block, and don't log any other time. For "real" simulators - I put down the type, and log SIM time as well as the sim inst and approaches. As this point in training, I am doing all of my flying in a PCATD (Personal Computer Aircraft Training Device – fancy FAA name for a glorified flight simulator which doesn’t have graphics as nice as Microsoft Flight Simulator). It also operates an Elite P-135 PCATD and an ATC 820M flight simulators. Since the first class in 1992, more than 1000 students taking various courses, Private Pilot Course, Commercial Pilot Course, Instrument Pilot Course and Flight Instructor’s Course have gone thru the school.
